Awesome Oxford Senior Session | Birmingham, Al Senior Photographer

Friday, September 17th, 2010

So, right before the big move, I had the distinct pleasure of doing a senior session for Lindsay.  Let me just say, it was SO much fun.

She brought a ton of outfits, an amazing chair (yes, a chair), and knew exactly what she wanted.
I suggested some railroad tracks in the area we were shooting, and she said …No, that is so not me.  She wanted to shoot against some dirty, deconstructed walls, which was my next suggestion. :)  The combination of something beautiful (Lindsay in her fabulous clothes) with something dirty and rugged (the old buildings) makes for amazing photos!!!

I thought it was awesome that she told me what she did and didn’t want, because custom photography should be completely and 100 percent about the client.  I wanted Lindsay to walk away from her portraits thinking that the images totally represented her.

Lindsay is a dancer, and she showcased her talent beautifully for this next image!

What did I tell you?….
The combination of beautiful+dirty=AMAZING!

Here is the fabulous chair that she brought!  I love her!
We wanted to find a field to put it in, but we were in the middle of town…so we settled on the parking lot.
Pretty cool, I think!

This image is one of my favorites.

Her gorgeous sister, Karinna, is also a senior this year.
I love that we captured them together at this special time in their lives!

Birthdays, Moving, Settling In | Our new home in Birmingham, AL

Friday, September 10th, 2010

So, the past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activities.  We  have FINALLY finished the move to Birmingham.  The transition would have been a lot smoother and quicker, but we have decided to build a home here.  We had to move half of our stuff to a temporary apartment and the other half went to storage, so we essentially have been moving twice and in weekend increments. Have you ever notice when you move, you have WAY more stuff than you thought?  Where does it all come from? Does it just multiply while you are packing?  It is all done now… (well, until the house is complete).

This week, I was staying in Gadsden to help the moving company when they came.  We had already had our internet transferred, so I felt stranded.  I must have ran down the battery a million times on my phone trying to stay in contact with civilization.  Honestly, it is so hard for me to believe that I actually had to live and breathe without being connected to the internet. It’s pretty lame how entangled and dependent my life has become on the world wide web, I know this. ;-)

Anyhow, during this whole moving, no internet adventure… we celebrated 2 birthdays (my husband’s and my own).  It was definitely a new birthday experience…packing, moving, unpacking, organizing.   It was not horrible, just different.  So, here I am… typing this blog post in our new apartment.  The atmosphere is quiet and calm as I try to catch up on all that I have missed.

The fur-babies are taking quite nicely to the new place, though they keep forgetting we have neighbors and frequently use their outside voices instead of their inside ones.  The kitty seems to be more social here… probably because the place is smaller and she has fewer places to hide.

So, HELLO Birmingham… here we are!

Here is what is left of the birthday cookie cake my husband, Greg, brought me amidst our unpacking.
(It was delicious… I think I may go have another slice now)
