Kelli + Wes // Rustic Engagement Session

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Kelli and Wes love the outdoors, so Tannehill State Park was the perfect setting for their engagement session!  The state park not only has the natural elements, but it also provides some rustic areas that photograph so beautifully.

These two are saying “I DO” next weekend, and I am so excited for their wedding.  It is going to beautiful, unique, amazing, and so very memorable… and Kelli is going to make a stunning bride!   I already had a glimpse at what she will look like on her wedding day, by doing her bridal portraits… and let me just tell you that Wes is going to just swoon over her when he first sees her.  It is so hard for me to not share some of her bridal portraits with all of you, but we have to save that surprise for the big day! :)

These two just crack each other up, and it was making me laugh, too.
I love it when emotion can be captured in a photograph.

Engagement Session at Tannehill

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Couples often search for the perfect location to use as the backdrop for their engagement photos.  Birmingham, Ala. provides SO many different, beautiful, and unique choices.  Do you prefer a romantic garden setting?  Or do you lean more towards an urban or industrial environment? What about a rustic, fall seasonal feel?

Katie and Kris really wanted their engagement photos capture the same autumnal feel of their upcoming November wedding, so they chose to use the beautiful Tannehill State Park as the background for their session.  When Katie and Kris arrived  and stepped out of the car, they were perfectly styled for their upcoming shoot.  It adds so much to a session when the clothing, styling, location, and the personalities of the couple complement each other.

Note to all those engaged: Make sure when planning for your own engagement session that you consider the location and then pick out a complimentary outfit (or 2).  Also, this is a special, once in lifetime experience, so take it up a notch from your daily life.  This is the perfect time to glam it up  or wear that outfit that you have been saving for a “special occasion”.  What could be more special?

You are getting married!!!

We started off the shoot easy and more formal to warm up, but after a few minutes we were cracking up and having so much fun!  These two were so easy to photograph, and had it not been getting dark we probably could have kept right on shooting.

Look at these two!  So comfortable at their session, you would think lying in the leaves was a normal, everyday occurrence!

This is one of my favorite photos!
Katie looks so beautiful, and you can see a hint of her canary diamond engagement ring (which cooridinates so well with Kris’s light yellow shirt)

Love, Love, Love this couple!

Amazing Couple + Awesome Location

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to do a couple’s session for these two amazing people… and close friends of mine.
You see, they got married last year right before he left for the army, so they didn’t have a chance to  have any engagement photos or wedding photos made.

He was home for a holiday, so we thought this would be the perfect time to seize the opportunity for portraits.  Because they are spending so much time apart right now, I understood how important these photos would be.   These images would be a constant reminder of the love they share and help ease the days and nights that they have to be apart.

So, we headed out to take photos…. and let me tell you,  I think that the temperature outside dropped a million degrees by the time we arrived to the location.  It was c-o-l-d out there.  Thank goodness they were all bundled up so cute…err, I mean handsome (for him). hehe :)

We had a great time hanging out, talking, laughing, and scurrying around trying to get all of the shots before we froze to death.
